To help with that task, we have put together a quick step-by-step guide below to make sure you get your savings when booking your next stay.
Step 1: Search for available rooms at your selected location and travel dates
Step 2: Select the hotel you’d like to stay at. Your advance booking discount (if applicable) should already be displayed on the right hand side of the information box. The further in advance you book, the bigger the discount so it pays to plan ahead!
Step 3: Select your room and your room rate. If you are firm on your travel dates you can select the lowest pricing available. If you think they might change, select their Best Flex Rate. It might be a little bit more but there is no penalty if you need to change or cancel in advance. Join the IHG Rewards Club to save even more!
And that’s it, from there you can enter your payment details and start planning the rest of your vacation!
Background Information on Holiday Inn:
As is the case with many hotel chains, the story of Holiday Inn starts with a single motel. In this case, that motel was in Memphis, Tennessee, where it had been developed by the founder of the company, Kemmons Wilson. This first location opened in 1952, and although it has since been demolished, it did set the stage for the development of one of the biggest hotel brands in the business. It didn’t take long for the Holiday Inn operation to expand, as there were already 23 Holiday Inn’s in business by the start of 1956 – less than four years after the first location opened it’s doors.
At least a portion of the success of Holiday Inn can be attributed to its use of the ‘Great Sign’. This sign was used throughout the early years of the hotel chain, and it successfully caught the eye of many travelers on their way down the highway. In an age before the internet and cell phones, the Great Sign was an effective way to draw attention and win business over competing hotels. The sign was at least 50 feet tall, featured a marquee, and was quite costly in its time. Although the sign was eventually phased out, it no doubt played a large role in the development of the company.
